Rowing aka Crew

Rowing is one of the oldest Olympic sports. It can either be a recreational activity or a competitive activity. For recreational, people mainly focus on learning the techniques of rowing, and competitive involves a lot of physical activity, so fitness plays a huge rule in it. Rowers need to have a strong core balance as well as physical strength and cardiovascular endurance. At the collegiate level, it is for competition. It is also called Crew at many Universities. Crew is where athletes race against each other either on a lake, river, or even an ocean depending on where it is taking place, what type of race, and the discipline. The boats are propelled by forces of the oar blades as each rower pushes it against the water. There are many different types of racing. Endurance races, time trials, stake racing, bumps racing, and side by side format used in the Olympics.
