The year 2008 has been a great year filled with many surprises. We had Brett Farve come out of retirement... again, and this time he is with a new team. He has down fairly well breaking some of his career records like most TD's in a game. What else lets see, the Cubs had a pretty good season and made it to the playoffs, However everyone thought this was "the year" in the post season they got swept and all hopes of that flew out the window, surprise, surprise. But when it all comes down one of the most surprising teams this year is, Ball State's amazing season they have had so far.
Ball State has really surprised many people this season, because for the first time the undefeated Cardinals are ranked in the top 25. This season the Cardinals are undefeated with a record of 7-0. They climbed to the number 24 spot after their 24 to 7 win at Western Kentucky. One factor as to why they have had an awesome season is QB Nate Davis. He is ranked number nine in the country in passing efficiency. He has also thrown for thirteen touchdowns and only four interceptions.
Another contributing factor in Ball States offense is junior running back MiQuale Lewis. Lewis who is a smaller guy right around 5' 6'' is ranked fourth in the country for rushing yards, with 914 yards. So don't let his small frame fool you this guy is a beast.
Another factor that really helps the Cardinals team is their offensive line. Their O-line includes four starting seniors and when you combine a good O-line and two good key offensive players you get a team that is ranked 15th on offense, which averages 455.6 yards a game. This team has a really good shot at going undefeated all season. Don't get me wrong this team has suffered some setbacks, the teams star receiver Dante Love suffered a spinal fracture in the second quarter against Indiana. Overall though the team has recovered and are doing exceptionally well this season so lets see how they end up.
