Yesterday was a great day for all Purdue football players and fans alike. The Boilers reclaimed the Old Oaken Bucket in what was Coach Tiller's final game as Purdue's head coach. Coach Tiller has had twelve seasons here at Purdue and this past Saturday he ended his coaching career with a huge win over the Indian Hoosiers, beating our rival team 62-10!
The main reason that Purdue did so well was because how great the offense played. The offense in yesterday's game played very well, in my opinion the best this season. They were lead by Curtis Painter who played a near perfect game. Painter completed 38 of 54 passes and he achieved an incredible 170.6 QB rating. Also, he had five touchdowns, and threw for 448 yards in yesterday's game. The action started when Painter threw a 9 yard touchdown pass to Desmond Tardy, which was then followed by a 79 touchdown pass to Aaron Valentin. The Boilers started the game with ten straight scoring drives.
Purdue's running back Kory Sheets had a great game too, with 15 carries for 61 yards and a total of three touchdowns, he broke Purdue's single season record for rushing touchdowns. By the time halftime came the Boilers had built up a 41-3 lead. This wasn't the end though for Purdue they continued to score. Sheets ran for his third touchdown in the 3rd quarter after Painter threw two more touchdowns. The final score of the game was 62-10, with Indiana's only TD coming when Kellen Lewis connected with Ray fisher on a 16 yard touchdown pass. Sadly, that would be the Hoosiers only TD of the game.
It was a great way for Purdue's all time winningest coach to end his career. Coach Tiller coached for twelve of those seasons and ten of those seasons he lead the team to a bowl game, this season wasn't his best season, however he will always be remembered as a great coach.

Boiler up! I am so happy we won this game. Both of my parents, as well as their siblings, have all gone to IU so this game was really big for our family. I was so happy to be able to say "we got the Bucket". My parents were actually ashamed to take off their coats after the game because they had all red on. I was very proud sitting with them and taking off my coat to sport my Purdue gear. Although, my dad did admit the stupidity of some of the plays made by IU. Such as in the first half when one of the IU players tripped over another one of his own player with the ball. I guess that isn't surprising to hear after looking at the score though.
This game seemed pretty ridiculous to me. It was the only one I have watched, but I have heard our team is pretty bad. So I was amazed to see us killing another team so badly. Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad we won, I was just not expecting that game and I got bored by the half.
I'll admit before the game I really wasn't sure who was going to win the game, I don't follow football that much. As soon as the game started and we scored I knew we would win. I went to the game and had a great time. It was nice to be able to beat IU by so much.
